P2P Background CameraPeer-to-peer camera for Android

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 17 April 2026

This policy describes how the P2P Background Camera Android app handles information. The app is developed by Jonathan Verrall and distributed via Google Play.

The short version: your live video travels directly between your two phones. We don’t collect personal data, we don’t require an account, and we don’t upload your video anywhere.

What the app does

The app streams live camera video from one Android device (“Camera mode”) directly to another Android device (“Viewer mode”) over a peer-to-peer WebRTC connection. A six-digit pairing code links the two devices.

Information we collect

We do not create user accounts, we do not require you to log in, and we do not track users across devices or sessions.

To establish the peer-to-peer connection we operate a lightweight signaling service on Cloudflare Workers. That service briefly processes:

Information we do not collect

Advertising

The app displays banner advertisements via Google AdMob on the camera device while streaming. Google AdMob may collect and use information (including the device’s advertising ID) as described in Google’s Privacy Policy and the AdMob policies. You can reset or opt out of personalised advertising at any time via your Android device settings.

Push notifications

The app uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) to alert the viewer device when a camera comes online. FCM device tokens are handled by Google Firebase and are not linked to personally identifiable information. See the Firebase Privacy and Security overview.

Permissions the app requests

Data retention

Pairing codes and signaling session state are retained only for the duration of an active session (maximum five minutes of inactivity) and are then deleted from the signaling server. Cloudflare request logs are subject to Cloudflare’s standard retention policy.

Children

The app is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Your rights

Because the app does not collect personal data tied to a user account, there is typically nothing for us to export or delete on request. For questions about this policy, contact the developer at the email below.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new “Last updated” date.
